For followers of Hollywood gossip, subscribers of Us Weekly, and commenters of ONTD, the best summer reads are celebrity memoirs! Indulge your voyeuristic nature and fan curiosities by getting a behind-the-scenes look into celebrity lives from the mouths of the stars themselves:
Earlier this summer, I finally finished a book that’s been on my must-read list for years: sTORI Telling by Tori Spelling. Should I be embarrassed? Maybe during her Lifetime movie heyday (Mother May I Sleep With Danger, anyone?) but thanks to her hit reality show, it’s not quite as humiliating to be a Tori Spelling fan. Not that I am. My interest in her book was the 90210 dirt. And the book delivers. It’s a funny, fast, and addictive read that offers a glimpse into the life of Hollywood heavyweight Aaron Spelling and his family, as well as giving insight into Tori’s feelings about her unconventional childhood, her rocky relationship with her mom, he
r career, her divorce and the affair that lead to her current marriage. I definitely recommend it.
I also recently got my hands on Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang, the latest of Chelsea Handler’s hilarious books. While I recommend her latest read, it’s not her best. The best of Chelsea’s books is arguably her first venture, My Horizontal Life. The series of short stories totes itself as a “collection of one-night stands,” but the vignettes go past that topic to include Chelsea’s hilarious anecdotes with friendships, early life in LA and her childhood in New Jersey. Her laugh-out-loud life experiences continue in her second book, Are You There Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea. Start with My Horizontal Life. You won’t regret it, nor will you won’t be able to put it down!
