In anticipation of another game day tomorrow, here’s a do-it-yourself post on how to spice up a cheap team t-shirt. With just a pair of scissors, a few minutes, and a little patience, you can update a bland and boxy tee into a comfy yet sexy shirt. I have zero sewing skills, so this is as basic as it gets.
Step 1: Visit your local bookstore or gear shop and pick out a cheap t-shirt with a design you like. I picked out a unisex shirt from my school’s store that was less than $10.

Step 2: Take your scissors (you don’t need sewing scissors; a normal set will get the job done) and carefully cut off the collar of the tee.

Step 3: The key for the next few steps is patience. If you take off way too much, you’ll ruin the shirt. I’ve been there. Start cutting more off gradually; use the the collar as a guide. Decide which shoulder you like better, then start from the opposite side of the collar and cut diagonally towards the seam point where the sleeve hits the shoulder. Cut a little, then stop and try the shirt on to see how you like it. Then cut more if you’re not happy.

Step 4: Trim the sleeves and bottom of the shirt. Most unisex tees look very boxy on girls because they’re meant to fit a variety of shapes and heights. Trimming the sleeves and shortening the length will instantly update the fit to look more feminine.

And that’s it! Sport your new shirt with coordinating team jewelry and accessories, and then you’re set for the game!

Totally love this idea! I've been cutting up shirts for ages, but I haven't quite had the nerve to go all the way across to both shoulders! I will for sure try it with some of my Mizzou shirts that are less expensive!
