For this week’s Wedding Wednesday post, I’m sharing our recent Chicago engagement photos with Laura Ann Miller Photography, our wedding photographer. Last month, Dan and I traveled north to do a two-part engagement session with Laura, first at my hometown beach where Dan proposed and then in the city.
This was our second engagement photo session but our first time working with our wedding photographer. Why two engagement sessions? We always had our hearts set on Chicago engagement photos, but I also wanted to honor our current home and the place where we fell in love, so we did an earlier session of Mizzou campus engagement photos and Missouri bluff top engagement photos with Madexposure Photography. Those fall engagement photos were perfect for our wedding Save the Date and our wedding website. Now we have fall photos and spring photos in two of our favorite places. What’s not to love about that?
For our photos in the city, we started at the South Pond in Lincoln Park next to the Lincoln Park Zoo. The bridge that overlooks the pond and the architectural pavilion nearby were two of our stops as we made our way toward North Avenue Beach, where we posed on the lakefront trail with the skyline behind us. As we made our way back to the Lincoln Park Zoo during golden hour, we took advantage of the newly deserted area and stopped again for more shots at the pavilion and bridge.
I love our photos. Laura is an amazing photographer, and I feel more confident than ever that she’ll photograph our wedding beautifully. Without further adieu, here are our Chicago engagement photos!
We’re planning to make Chicago our home someday, so these photos are all the more special, and I know we’ll cherish them for years to come. Being engaged has been such a fun time in our lives thanks to special moments like these engagement shoots, but I cannot wait to call this handsome man my husband and be his wife.
Next week I’ll share our Wilmette beach engagement photos — with a cameo from our favorite little fur ball.
Style Notes
Dress: The dress I’m wearing is the RED Valentino Cady Mini Dress, which is called the “Olivina Dress” on Rent the Runway. It runs very large; I definitely recommend sizing down at least one size. I rented it, so I had to make the best of it and just wear a size that was too big for me.
Boots: My boots are Steve Madden “Gorgeous” over-the-knee boots (now on sale at the link!).
